Eric Geddes Lecture: Is Electricity Storage in Alberta’s Future?

Thursday, May 3, 2018
11:30 AM - 1:30 PM

Event Description

There has been a renewed interest in electricity storage technologies as renewable energy prices decline and additional variability is added to the grid. Power storage offers a host of other potential benefits to the electricity system ranging from improved resiliency, to reducing peak costs, to easing transmission congestion. While there is much talk about power storage, it remains marginal in Alberta.

The University of Alberta School of Business invites you to the latest in our speaker series, where panelists Maureen Kolla, Manager, Clean Power and Heat, Alberta Innovates, Alex McNichol, Managing Director, Business Development, TransAlta, and Dennis Frehlich, Strategic Senior Advisor, Alberta Electric System Operator will discuss the opportunities, as well as the barriers, to the future of energy storage in Alberta.
